With over 20 years of experience, Sarah joined Matthews, Carter & Boyce in 2025, bringing a wealth of expertise to the firm. She manages the firm’s financial operations and focuses on financial process improvement.

Before joining Matthews, Carter & Boyce, Ms. DeVoe held several management roles, including serving as Director of Finance and Accounting at EarthOptics, an agricultural technology startup. Earlier in her career, she served as a manager at Swart Lalande & Associates (before the firm was acquired by DHG, now FORVIS). From there, she joined the team at Burdette Smith & Bish (BSB) as a manager, and was subsequently promoted to partner. During her more than five years as partner, she was the firm’s Audit Director and led its nonprofit industry group. She also served on the Virginia Society of CPA’s Peer Review Committee during that time.

In her free time, Sarah enjoys reading, traveling, and learning languages—interests that complement each other well. Although she’s not yet fluent, she is currently studying French and Hawaiian.
